there were many scientists who were working on structure of atom like "John Dalton" he said that :- this theory is based on laws of mass conversation and laws of definite proportions for all matter was composed of smallest practical called atom
2nd was "J.J.Thomson" :-his structure was known as plum pudding or watermelon model of an atom . he said that an atom has a spherical shape of radius approximately 10 to the power of -10 m in which the positive charge is uniformity distributed. the electrons are embedded into it uniformly so as to give the most stable electrostatic arrangement. 3rd was Rutherford :- after his experiment he assumed that the electrons can occupy all the positions form the wall of the nucleus to the size of atom. atomic spectrum is related with the energy radiated by the revolving electrons. since all positions outside nucleus are available for electrons energies of electrons must be continuous.hence observed atomic spectrum contains discrete lines and is discontinuous
