Answer:
The tertiary sector is different from the other two sectors because:
- Tertiary sector does not manufacture goods.
- It helps in the development of the other two sectors.
- For this reason, it is also known as the service sector.
- They are an aid or a support fro the production process.
- It is the backbone of all the sectors.
- As primary and secondary sectors develop, there is requirement of services. Hence tertiary sector is also developed.
Examples:
- Goods that are produced in the primary/secondary sector, would need to be transported by trucks or trains and then sold in wholesale and retail shops. At times, it may be necessary to store these in godowns.
- We also need to talk to people over telephones or send letters (communications) or take a loan from banks (banking) to help the production and trade.
Transport, storage, communications, banking, trade, etc. are some examples of the tertiary activities.
