How is the use of "comma"(,) diff from "colon"(:) while selecting a range of cells?

sukhman52: , is used to be left or right the cell or to be separated it . and : is used to refer the range of a cell

, refers to the cell only in it's left and right side but in otther hand : reffers to the cell from cell to another.
