Have you seen your notebook has length , width and height ? Have you see circket ball it occupies some space on your hand if you take it. what are these ? of course , solid .

for example :- volume of cylinder is given by 2\pi rh.
where r is the radius of base of cylinder and h is height of cylinder.
similarly volume of cube is \text{side length}^3
