Winter rainfall in the northwestern part of India is caused due to western disturbances. ... In southeast India, the winter rainfall occurs due to the retreating monsoon i.e. the Northeast monsoons. While moving over the Bay of Bengal, the winds carry moisture and give rainfall in the coastal regions of southeast India.
