Phenol + Zn → Benzene + ZnO

Zn is used here, since it never lets Oxygen alone. ie, Takes it away.

So now you are left with Benzene,

On Freidelcraft’s alkylation.

Benzene + CH3Cl in presence of AlCl3 → Toulene + AlCl4

NOTE THIS POINT :( AlCl3 is a lewis acid, tends to accept an other halide from the reagent, that is. AlCl3 + CH3Cl → CH3 + AlCl4)
