When it comes to diversity people tend to support and stay by one another. Doing this helps others feel comfortable and accepted. They will stay united.
When people are new to a certain environment, they tend to stay quiet and nervous. But as long as they're polite and being themselves they will find people that will like them for them.Then the unity begins to form.
Usually when people are unfamiliar with others they weren't willing to show myself (unless they're extroverts). However once they see that you're actually like them (in some way) or that you're trustworthy they express that they're comfortable around you. Then unity forms.
This is all I think for now. Sorry it's not five reasons.

1: Respect each other's choices as well as their social, economic and political background.
2: Despite having difference of opinion, let others express their views and give them their space and time.
3: Allow human interaction without questioning one's religious, social and economic standing.
4: India has accommodated different elements of society without letting them lose their separate identity.
5: By celebrating each others religious festivals with the same joy and enthusiasm as they celebrate their own religious festivals .
