The basic functional unit in urine formation is Nephron. Nephron is present in kidney which means that the process of urine formation takes place in kidney.

There are three steps in urine formation:

- Glomerular filtration

- Tubular Re-absorption

- Tubular Secretion

These three steps play an important role in absorption of nutrients from urine and make sure it only contains waste materials.
