Pesticides (chemicals that kill insects) applied to farmland enter surface water and groundwater, often in large quantities. ... Importance of Water Conservation. Fresh, clean water is a limited resource. While most of the planet is covered in water, it is salt water that can only be consumed by humans and other species after undergoing desalination, which is an expensive process.

Water get polluted by various human activities like, toxic waste which is produced in factories are released in water bodies.

We should conserve water because :-
1. There should not be shortage of water for future generations.
2. We are depleting fresh water faster than it can be replenished.
3. Icebergs and glaciers which are source of fresh water are mixing in saline water.
