Work results when a force acts upon an object to cause a displacement. The Energy is capacity for doing work. It may exist in potential, kinetic, thermal, electrical, chemical, nuclear, or other various forms. Work = force * time * distance. Think of a battery or engines it ting ready to do work because it contains a certain amount of stored energy. When work is done, energy is transferred between systems, or transformed from one type of energy into another type. Energy shares the same units of measure as work. The SI unit of work or energy is the joule.
