How is zinc extracted from it's ore

HEYA MATE !

Zinc comes under the middle of the reactivity series.

It's sulphide ore is converted to it's oxide by Roasting.

or It's carbonate ore is converted to it's oxide by Calcination.

The metal oxides are then reduced to the corresponding metals by using suitable reducing agents such as a carbon.

ZnO + C -> Zn + CO

At last pure Zn is extracted.

The sulphide ore of zinc is first roasted:-

2ZnS+ 3O2------> ZnO+ 2SO2

Then the obtained ZnO is reduced with carbon to obtain pure metal:-

ZnO+ C------> Zn+ CO
