Legumes are the plants and rhizobium is a bacteria.
Bacteria needs a place to live and legumes needs nitrogen to fix in soil.
Rizobium bacteria will convert the atmospheric nitrogen into nitrate and fix in soil for plants to use and the legumes will give food and shelter for rhizobium to live. This becomes a mutual understanding between them.
Food and place for nitrogen by plants ,
Nitrogen for food and place by bacteria.
So only the leguminous plants have root nodules and this is bulged and this is we’re rhizome lives!!!
