Lichen is the symbiotic relationship between the phycobiont algae and the mycobiont fungi.
The lichen is used as a pollution indicator because they donot grow in polluted areas.
So if they donot grow in a particular area then that area is polluted ....

Lichens helped the scientists in assessing effects of pollution i.e. If lichens suck some amount of blood of your body and then take the lichen sucked blood and use on skin. Your skin will completely washed with pollution without any water and face wash or fancy. That's why lichens helped to destroy dead skin cells and glow the white skin cell. I hope you like this!!
