If pressed by time, I may be able to maintain one meter per second (1.0 m/s) for a while (30 min or 60 min). That’s not strenuous. But I am quite healthy. So it would take me 300 s (5 minutes) to cover 300 m. I can maintain this speed for such a short time easily.

If not pressed by time, I would go at a leisure one meter per two seconds (0.5 m/s); i.e., I would spend 600 s (10 minutes).

If I had to walk faster, I would be able to achieve 1.5 m/s, without any problem for such a short time - 200 s (3.3 min). I have done 1.6 m/s for 20 min. That’s a GOOD exercise.

I could do it even faster - 2.0 m/s - it would be a breather! for me (I am not an athlete), but not for too long. This would bring the time to 150 s (2.5 min). A sprint!

Explanation:

Given,

Speed=1.5 m/s

Distance=300m

We need to find the time

Therefore:

Let time be x

Speed=Distance/Time

or,1.5=300/x

(No use of units which solving the equation)

or,1.5x=300

or,x=300/1.5

or,x=200

Therefore,Time taken for the person to walk will be 200 s
