Ever since the Indian Constitution was first formulated in 1950, there has been a total of 101 amendments to date. The last amendment was made with respect to the GST Act.
Article 368 of the Constitution supports two types of amendments to be made as follows:
*The first type of amendments are
those that can be made effective only by the Parliament of India as formulated
by a special majority.
*The second type of amendments are those that have to be validated by at least 50 percent of the State Legislatures. These are those apart from the special majority.
