we know that the volume of lead shots is equal to volume of N balls
4\pi {r}^{3}  \div 3 = 4\pi {r}^{3}  \times n \div 3

 {r}^{3}  = n \times  {r}^{3}
so
8 \times 8 \times 8 = 1 \times 1 \times 1 \times n
n = 512 \: balls
hence N=512 balls
