Explanation:

Crocodiles ancestry line , stretches back to 200 million years ago ; the crocodile as we know today started evolving 80 million years ago . They have outlived the dinosaurs and are the most andvanced reptile species ever - they are also the most successful fresh water predator .

They have evolved many traits and techniques to allow their stay st the top of the food chain : survivle after lost of limb , armoured bones plates which almost cover their entire body , teeth and a bite force which can break through bones and even iron metals . They also have a very highly advanced immune system which allows them to live for decades .

. As they are cold blooded reptiles ; their bodily functions and anatomy are similar or almost the same as other reptiles ie small or larger lizards . Ie crocs are ectothermic , which means they must gather heat from their environment .

In extreme conditions larger crocodiles can go as long as a year without eating a meal (like mentioned above) their anatomy allows them to almost completey shutdown their body and live off their own bodily fats and tissues (the average croc however eats about 50 meals a year ).
