It was at least a year from the burglary and coverup to Nixon’s resignation, which was his only option to avoid impeachment.

The Republicans probably won't impeach Trump. They could (and arguably should) morally and legally, but the backlash would split their constituancy. It would also lose them the House next year.

Their likely strategy is to argue just enough, publically with each other about impeachment to satisfy Trump loyal voters and Trump opponents, to appear to be making progress. They're already planning this strategy in a cynical and very contrived fashion.

The Democrats will impeach him next year if they have the numbers. It may be better to simply cripple him politically, unless they intend to impeach Pence and Ryan instead.

So, no, I don't think he will beat Nixons record between crime and removal from office, but he may be within a few months of that timeframe.
