How many different ways can 5 element be selected in order to form a set with three elements when repetition is allowed

there are 243 ways to select five element, in which we need to first select n elements that is equal to 5, n=5 from a set of m=3 where permutation and repetition can be used.

Here it is,  3*3*3*3*3=243

or m^n ways to select 5 elements,

3^5=243 ways to select..
