The maximum possible number of electrons in a particular shell is given by formula 2n^2 where n denotes serial number of that shell.
First of K shell has (2×1^2)=2electrons
L shell has(2×2^2)=8electrons
M shell has(2×3^2)=18electrons
N shell has (2×4^2)=32electrons
and so on.
Hope it helps you.
