There are 10 electrons in NH3.

one atom of nitrogen and three atoms of hydrogen are contained in NH3 molecules.

One nitrogen atom contains 7 electrons while each hydrogen atom contains 1 electron.So the total number of electrons will be 10

NH3 =====> 8... Because H is in group 1 so it has 3(1)

and N is in group 5 so 5 valence electrons...

you add 3(1) + 5 = 8 valence electrons... TADA !
