Answer: 18 electrons

Explanation:

Electronic configuration represents the total number of electrons that a neutral element contains. We add all the superscripts to know the number of electrons in an atom.

The electrons are filled according to Afbau's rule in order of increasing energies and thus the electronic configuration  of zinc with atomic number of 30 is:

1s^22s^22p^63s^23p^63d^{10}4s^2

Principle Quantum Numbers : It describes the size of the orbital and the energy level. It is represented by n. Where, n = 1,2,3,4..

For n+1 = 4, n=3

Thus there are 2 electrons in 3s , 6 electrons in 3 p  and 10 electrons in 3d.Thus there are total of 2+6+10 = 18 electrons.
