The answer is 28.8 grams

GIVEN

Weight of gold(iii) chloride = 45.00 grams

TO FIND

Amount of gold recovered.

SOLUTION

The above problem can be simply solved as follows.

Molecular mass of Au₂Cl₆ = 606.5 g/mol

Molar mass of Gold (Au) = 197 grams

Amount of Au in 606.5 g/mol = 197 × 2 = 394 grams

Amount of gold in 1 grams of Au₂Cl₆ = 394/606.5 = 0.64 grams

Amount of Gold recovered from 45 grams of gold(iii) chloride = 45 × 0.64 = 28.8 grams

Hence, The answer is 28.8 grams
