The number of heterozygous plants which are present in the checkerboard depends on the type of plant which has been crossed.
Explanation:
- While studying the genetic phenotype and the genotype of the material that has been crossed we draw up checker board
- in the board if the two elements which are present in the gene are of similar type they are said to be homozygous plants.
- However if the two ends of the alleles are different then they are said to be heterozygous plants
- Based on the the number of of heterozygous and homozygous plants we calculate the genotypic and phenotypic ratio.
