There are no integers between two successive integers.

  • In algebra, we use a line called the number line where every real number is placed accordingly.
  • In the middle of the number line, there is zero (0). On the right side of zero, the positive numbers e.g. 2, 3, 0.5, etc are placed and on the left side of the zero the negative numbers e.g. -2, -3, -0.5, etc are placed.
  • For any two positive or negative numbers, if one number say "x" is placed on the right side of another number say "y", we say that x is greater than y i.e. x > y.
  • Between two successive integers, there doesn't exist an integer. Example: two successive integers are 1 and 2. On the number line between 1 and 2, there are infinitely many real numbers. But none of them is an integer.
