Solution :
i ) Dimensions of rectangular well :
Length ( l ) = 10m
Breadth ( b ) = 8 m
Depth ( h ) = 28 m
Volume of the soil excavated ( V )
= l × b × h
= 10m × 8 m × 28 m
= 2240 m³
Therefore ,
2240 m³ soil should be excavated
from the well .

ii ) Area of four sides of the wall
of the well = 2( l + b )h
= 2( 10 + 8 )×28
= 2 × 18 × 28
= 1008 m²
It is given that ,
Cost of plastering 1m² vertical walls
= Rs 15
Now , Cost of plastering 1008m² area
of the wall = 15 × 1008
= Rs 15120
