Given:

0.8 ampere current is passed for 1 hour through molten CaCl2

To find:

How many moles of electrons are passed?

Solution:

From given, we have.

0.8 ampere current is passed for 1 hour through molten CaCl2

The charge is given by  the formula,

Q = It

Q = 0.8 × 1 × 60 × 60

Q = 2880 C

The number of moles of eletrons,

n = Q/96500

n = 2880/96500

n = 0.02984 = 2.984×10^{-2} moles

Therefore, the number of moles of electrons are passed are 2.984×10^{-2} moles
