An electric bell doesn't have a solenoid, but it has a U-shaped electromagnet, which is a coiled iron core.
If a solenoid is to be used instead of the U-shaped soft iron core, then according to me, two solenoids should be used. However, the polarity of the two ends of each solenoid facing the strip (which strikes the gong to ring the bell) should be different so that the strip gets properly attracted to the solenoid when the switch is switched on.
