150π m²

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Height(h) of Conical tent = 3.5 m

Base Radius(r) = 12 m

To find:

How many square metres of Canvas is required?

Easy to Solve, But How?

1. Analyse the Data i.e Question

2. Whenever you see [unit² Canvas] it's mean you have to find lateral Surface Area.

3. As h and r are present we have to find slant height (l).

4. Formula Related to Cone will use.

Solution:

As we know,

l =  \sqrt{ ({r)}^{2} +  {(h)}^{2}  }  \\  \\  =  \sqrt{ {(3.5)}^{2} +  {(12)}^{2}  }  \\  \\  =  \sqrt{12.25 + 144}  \\  \\  =  \sqrt{156.25}  \\  \\ =  12.5

Hence, Slant Height is 12.5 m.

Now,

Lateral Surface Area = πrl unit²

= π × 12 × 12.5 m²

= 150.0π m²

= 150π m²

Therefore, 150π m² of Canvas is required.

Formula Related to Cone

Lateral Surface Area = πrl

Total Surface Area = πr(r + l)

Volume = 1/3 πr²h

Here, r is radius , h is height and l is slant height for any cone .
