Answer:

  • Hey! Mate here is your answer.....

Let number of vertical line be n.. and numbwr of horizontal line be m

The number of rectangle formed by intersection of these lines are

(n-1)*(m-1)

(4-1)*(4-1)

3*3 =9

...sorry but I only know about rectangle

14 squares and 9 rectangles can be formed.

To find :

How many squares and rectangles can be drawn using the given data.

Given :

Parallel lines = 4

Perpendicular lines = 4

With above given data, diagram is drawn which is attached below.

Finding squares :

From the diagram ( 1 ), there are 9 square boxes.

From the diagram ( 2 ), there are 4 square boxes.

From the diagram ( 3 ), there is 1 square box.

Hence, number of square boxes = 9 + 4 + 1 = 14 square boxes.

Finding rectangles :

From the diagram ( 4 ), rectangles formed by n and m lines.

So, number of rectangles = (n - 1) × (m - 1)

Here, n = 4    ;     m = 4.

Number of rectangles  = (4 - 1) × (4 - 1)

                                      = 3 × 3

                                      = 9 rectangle boxes.

Hence, number of rectangle boxes is 9.

Therefore, 14 squares and 9 rectangles can be drawn.
