The number of tiles required = 2160

Explanation:

Given : Length of tile = 25 cm

Breadth of tile = 20 cm

We assume that the tiles are in rectangular shape.

Area of tile =  Length x Breadth

= 25 x 20 = 500 sq. cm

The length of the floor=  12 metres =  12 x 100 = 1200 cm [∵ 1 m = 100 cm]

The breadth of the room = 9 metres = 900 cm

Area of the floor =   Length x Breadth

= 1200 x 900 = 1080000 sq. cm

Now , the number of tiles required = (Area of the floor ) ÷ (Area of each tile )

=  1080000 ÷ 500 =2160

Hence , the number of tiles required = 2160
