Answer:

The number of tiles is 800.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Tiles measuring 20cm x 20cm each will be pave a 1.5m wide footpath around a grassy plot of 25m x 16m.

To find : How many tiles required?

Solution :

Footpath sides measuring L=25+3=28 , B=16+3=19

Area of the footpath,

A+1=L\times B\\A=28\times 19\\A=532m^2

Area of grassy plot measuring 25m x 16m is

A_2=L\times B\\A=25\times 16\\A=400m^2

Area of paved is

A=A_1-A_2\\A=532-400\\A=32 m^2\\A=320000cm^2

Area of tiles measuring 20cm x 20cm

a=L\times B\\A=20\times 20\\A=400cm^2

Number of times required is

n=\frac{A}{a}

n=\frac{320000}{400}

n=800

Therefore, The number of tiles is 800.
