Ans :- Friction is an opposing force which comes into play when one body actually moves or even tries to move over the surface of another body.

Types of friction :-

It is of two types :-

1. Sliding friction
2. rolling friction.

1. Sliding friction

• When a block slides over a surface then the friction between their contact surface is called sliding friction.

2. Rolling friction

• comes into play when a body, such as a wheel, disc or cylinder rolls over a surface.
• The reason of rolling friction being much less is that only a very small portion of the moving wheel is in contact with the ground at any ins tant and this portion is momentarily at rest. Hence no work is done against friction.
