Hey mate here's your answer

For agricultural calculations you can assume:

Top layer of the soil is 15-20 cm

Volume of 1ha of topsoil layer 100m x 100m x 0,2m = 2000m3

If volume of your pot is 5dm3 then dose of nitrogen (for 1ha 100 kg N) will:

100 kg N/2000m3 = 0,05 kg N it is: 50 g N/1m3 of topsoil

50 g N/1000dm3

x g N /5dm3 x=0,25 g N

If for 5dm3 of topsoil you need 0,25 g N, and if 100 g ammonium nitrate contain 34 g N, you need 0,25 g N x 100 g NH4NO3 / 34 g N = 0,73 g NH4NO3 /5dm3 of soil

It is calculation by volume.

For calculation by weight you may assume that weight of soil is: from 1,5 kg/dm3 for organic soils to 2,8 kg/dm3 for mineral soils
