if the melting point of a metal is very high it means that the metal is very strong and has strength as stronger metals have high boiling point

Answer:
The general rule of thumb is that the melting point increases as the strength of the intermolecular force increases. Greater intermolecular strength, the more energy is needed to break the bonds found in a compound.
When a substance is heated the kinetic energy of the partilces(molecules/atoms) increases due to which they push each other farther than their mean position, therefore the distance between the particles(inter-molecular space) increases.
