Methanol is naturally present in small quantities in fruits and in human body. If it is taken in large quantities, it gets converted into methanal or formally called formaldehyde. It coagulates the cells of the body and blocks the optic nerve which causes blindness. It is toxic and cancerogenic

Methanol can be lethal for us as when it goes in our liver it is oxidised to methanal in the liver. It causes the protoplasm to get cogulated, in the same way as an egg is cogulated by cooking. It also affects the optic nerve, causing blindness.

Hope it helps.
All the best!!
Thank you.
