Michaelson interferometer uses the interference of light to calculate the interference.  

Explanation:

In this experiment beam splitter is used to split light source into two arms.  Both light streams return back to beam splitter which combines them there using the superposition. The combined light is not sent to the source but it is sent to a camera. In this wave distance in term of wavelength units is measured.
