THE PHENOMENON OF MIRAGES IS PRODUCED BY THE TOTAL INTERNAL REFLECTION OF LIGHT WHICH TAKES PLACE WHEN LIGHT PASSES FROM OPTICALLY DENSER COLD AIR TO OPTICALLY RARER HOT AIR IN THE ATMOSPHERE.
