dP = d(mu + MV) = m du + dm u + M dV + dM V = F dT is the impulse here.

And we have dm u + M dV = F dT; so that dV = (F dT - dm u)/M = ? is the change in speed.

But that's the best we can do as you've given us no thrust F and no interval of time dT for that thrust. Note du = 0 because u = -5000 m/s is assumed constant. Similarly dM = 0 because the basic mass of the rocket does not change.

Finally note that both dm and u are negative values as dm is a loss of mass and u is a vector in the direction opposite to the direction the rocket is going.
