CH4 +2(02) -> CO2 + 2(H20)

Mol.Mass of CH4= 12+4=16 g

Mol. Mass of C02= 12+(16+16)=48g

i.e 16g CH4 -> 48g CO2

i.e. 1g CH4 -> 3g CO2

So; 1Kg CH4 -> 3Kg CO2

Hence 3Kg of CO2 will be released when 1Kg of Methane is burnt.

Hope it helps...
