How much heat energy (in Joules) is required to change 10 mg of ice at 0°C to water at 40°C.
[Lr = 3.34 * 10° J/kg and Cwater = 4200 J/Kgk]

Explanation:

m = 10 mg = 0.01 gm

∆t = 40 -0 = 40℃

latent heat added = 0.01*334 = 3.34 J

sensible heat added=0.01*4.2*40=1.68 J

total heat added = 3.34 + 1.68 = 5.02 J
