In World War II the German Nazis murdered 6 million Jews this was known as Holocaust.Anne’s diary gives a true insight to the terror of the Holocaust and it has also impacted the public's knowledge of Holocaust. This Holocaust was the worst genocide of the Jews who were blamed for the current poor economic state in Germany. Therefore Jews was fired from their jobs had to run away to other countries. They were forced to work in German factories and then sent off to concentration camp which was a place where people where kept like animals, tortured, starved and people ultimately died. Anne's diary mentions about her father shifting to Amsterdam and then to this Hiding Place, a small Annexe where her father worked also.

The reason that Anne's family had to go into hiding was a direct result of what the Nazis called the ‘final solution’ to the ‘Jewish question’ which was the extermination of all the Jews.

In 1942, on 28 September Anne wrote not being able to be outside upsets her more than she can say. She is terrified that are Hiding Place will be discovered and that they will be shot. In bits and pieces the entries in her diary. Towards the Holocaust. On 9th October ,1942 she reports on the harsh and inhuman conditions Westerbork, the labour camp in Holland to which Jews were being sent.

On 27 March 1943 Anne reacts to an announcement by the Germans that all Jews are to be a deported from German occupied territories. She refers to the victims as poor people shipped off to slaughterhouses like sick cattle. On 31st March, 1944 she reacts to the news that Hungary has been occupied by German Troops. ‘The million Jews in that country are doomed’ she writes.
