Answer:

40 kg m/s

Explanation:

The momentum transferred will be equal to the momentum of the dum bell right before touching the ground.

h = 80 cm = 0.8 m

a = 10 m/s²

u = 0 m/s

v² = u² +2 ah

   = 0² + (2 x 0.8 x 10)

   = 0 + 16

v  = √16

v  = 4 m/s

m = 10 kg

P = m v

  = 10 x 4 kg m/s

  =40 kg m/s

Given:

  • Initial velocity = 0 (as it transfer to the floor)
  • Acceleration = 10 m/s
  • Distance = 80 cm = 0.8 m
  • Final velocity = ?

Need to find:

  • Momentum of the dub Bell

 \huge{  \underline{ \mathbb{SOLUTION:-}}}

Calculating final velocity-

 \large \implies{ {v}^{2}  =  {u}^{2}  + 2as} \\  \large \implies{ {v}^{2}  =  {(0)}^{2}  + 2 \times 10 \times 0.8} \\  \large \implies{ {v}^{2}  = 16} \\  \large \implies{v =  \sqrt{16}}  \\  \large \implies{v = 4 {ms}^{ - 1}}

Momentum = Mass × velocity

  \large \implies{10 \times 4} \\  \large \implies{ \bold{40 \: kg \:{ms}^{ - 1}}}

 \large{ \boxed{ \purple{Momentum = 40 \: kg \:{ms}^{ - 1}}}}
