It doesn’t decompose. The clay is the raw material. When fired in a kiln, it will become hard aka bisque. It’s called that because it was hard like a biscuit (what Americans call hard tack or cracker). After that process is done, the clay has had all the organic material burned out of it. The ceramic can then be pulverized into a dust but there have been carbon dated ceramics from 10000 years ago. Simply put, it can’t decompose.
