Explanation:

Let a be the acceleration of the box.

The equation of motion of the box, ma=F−f (as friction force always opposite to applied force)

or 40a=80−60

or a=20/40=0.5m/s

Given,

Mass of the body=80kg

On horizontal surface force applied by=40kg

To Find,

Coefficient of friction.

Solution,

Let a be the acceleration of the body

The equation of motion of the body,

ma=F−f (As we know friction force always opposite to applied force)

⇒40a=80−60

⇒a=20/40=0.5m/s

Hence, coefficient of friction will be 0.5.
