let the edge be x

a- volume of cube = l^3

(2x)^3

8x^3

therefore the no of times the volume increased=8x^3/x^3

= 8 times

2- if halved

volume=(x/2)^3

=x/8^3

therefore the no of times the volume decreased=1/8x^3/x^3

=1/8 times

3- tripled

new l = 3x

volume= (3x)^3

=27x^3/x^3

= 27 times
