Nerves send signals by impulses generated when the stimuli overcomes the required threshold value.

Threshold value - Value required for a stimuli to convert itself into a stimulus is called threshold value. Eg. when a dust particles comes in contact with our body we dont feel anything becacuse ...  .  When someone hits us we feel pain because that stimuli overcomes threshold value.
