Here is your answer.....
To find magnetic moment for any element we need to know its unpaired electrons after the electrons are filled in orbitals...
The box diagram for nickel(28) is given in attachment.....
As per its orbital diagram,the no.of unpaired electrons is "2".
The formula for magnetic moment is
√n(n+2)
Sub. n as " 2"
magnetic moment => √8 = 2.82 BM.
