Answer:

During the day the stomata are open to facilitate the inward diffusion of carbon dioxide for photosynthesis. At night they are closed. Therefore, more transpiration occurs during the day. When it is cloudy during the day, the stomata are partially closed and transpiration is reduced.

Photosynthesis is a process carried in chloroplast of leaves in presence of water, carbon dioxide and light.

Transpiration is a process where internal CO2 i.e.within the plant which is removed through respiration is used to open the stomata through turgor pressure. When the stomata opens the influx of CO2 takes place to start the process of photosynthesis.

However many external factors like temperature, humidity, light intensity, etc.also effects the transpiration.

At times the transpiration and photosyntesis compete for resource i.e.water and CO2.
