When an object falls down the gravitational force speeds up the object and in this way the P.E is converted into K.E

Explanation:

  • Suppose an object is at height "h" having gravitational potential energy.
  • When it falls down, the gravitational potential energy is lost by it.
  • As the height of the object decreases, the gravitational potential energy also decreases. The formula of Potential energy is
  • P.E = m.g.h
  • In simple word the gravitational potential energy is due to height.
  • But when it falls down the gravitational force speeds up the object and in this way the P.E is converted into K.E
  • K.E = 1./2 m.V^2
